What is Search Engine Optimization?

Also known as SEO, it is the process of developing a content rich website that ranks well in search engines. There are three main aspects to optimizing your web presence.

The second is "keyword analysis" where we determine specific keywords that define your website, and position them effectively in your site. Basically search engines send "spiders" that crawl the web reading websites. Spiders can not see all the fancy graphics and "goodies" that go into a website. Your site needs to be developed in a way that spiders can easily navigate and view your website. This does not mean your site has to be ugly, it just means it needs to be developed the correct way. Your website is still a marketing piece and reflects your company image or brand. The design of the website should clearly project your image and be designed for your visitors/target market.

As the spiders crawl your website they store certain information they deem important. If your site is well optimized the spiders will store the information you have told them is important. Keywords and keyword placement play an important role in this but must be used intelligently. Spiders have become really smart, so you should not paste a ton of keywords over and over because they can recognize this and will ban you from their search engine. There are several rules to follow that we have become adverse to.

Once your website has been crawled it will soon be ranked based on several factors from how well your site is organized, to how well your keyword placement is. Popularity also plays an important role in ranking your website. Search engines try their best to bring you reliable and valuable information, so the more popular the site is, the more chance it is a reliable site.
